S130/S190 - Basic Firefighter

Big State Wildfire will be putting on a Basic Firefighter Course at the High Desert Grange the week of May 23 -27. This is the basic training required to receive a redcard and become qualified as a Type 2 Firefighter, FFT2.
The coursework includes (S-130)Basic Fire Fighter,(S-190)Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, (L-180) Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service, and (I-200)Basic ICS. In addition to this course you will also need to take (IS700) NIMS: An Introduction, which you can take online for free.
The work capacity test will be held on Saturday after the Fireline Safety Refresher around 1pm.
Anyone wishing to become a wildland firefighter.
There no prerequisites to take the class, however, to be issued a redcard you must be at least 18 years old and you must have completed (IS700) NIMS: An Introduction. You can take it for free online at: https://emilms.fema.gov/IS700aNEW/index.htm
Please bring your IS700 certificate to class so we can enter it in the training database for you.

Note: Class will start at 1000 on Monday and at 0800 on subsequent days. Please bring two forms of identification with you to class. Bring your IS700 certificate if you have it. The work capacity test involves a 3 mile hike with a 45 lb. pack in under 45 minutes so bring appropriate footware and comfortable clothing.
